My reputation as a professional artist has steadily grown since graduating from the Glasgow School of Art. Throughout my career I have continued to develop the skills necessary to work within different contexts and on a variety of projects including commissions, artist residencies, research fellowships abroad as well as participating in many solo and group exhibitions.

Winning the Villiers David Travel Prize enabled me to travel to Australia and the Pacific Islands and a solo exhibition of paintings and photographs inspired by this trip was held at the Berkeley Square Gallery in London.

Following this, as a result of winning the prestigious Alastair Salvesen Award, I travelled to the West and South West states of America, visiting the many National Parks of California, Utah, Arizona and Wyoming. A solo exhibition of work resulting from this trip was held at the Royal Scottish Academy, Edinburgh.

Since then I have further embarked on round the world travel, spending time in Hawaii and New Zealand before taking up a fellowship at the West Australian Academy of Arts in Perth, Australia. After completing the fellowship, I spent several months travelling through South East Asia including Indonesia, Thailand, Laos, Vietnam and Cambodia, where I was continually researching and gathering new material.

Travelling to America, Hawaii, New Zealand and Indonesia particularly ignited my passion for volcanic and geothermal landscapes, where we can witness the powerful forces active beneath the earth’s crust. These concepts inspire my work today and I have continued to develop them during my 2005 residency at Hospitalfield House, on Scotland’s east coast.
